Get to know the faces of Acquirent through our Top Ten series! Here, Lawrence Henderson shares the main reasons he loves coming to work each day.
TOP TEN REASONS I LOVE WORKING AT ACQUIRENT
1. The help you receive here. Whether they’ve been in the sales game for just a few months or multiple decades–everyone is willing to help you try something new, or coach you through your process. Though every account is different, we all face similar struggles, and through helping each other out, you’ll never feel like you’re on an island here.
2. The culture. Let’s be honest…sales can be a lucrative way to earn a living, but it’s not easy. That’s why our clients come to us! Because of this, it’s crucial to have a culture that is positive and knows that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. It makes a great difference when you have 10 people telling you no, but an office of 80 telling you yes!
3. The business acumen and practical knowledge you can gain here. Our managers and partners have been in your shoes, and not only that, they have been successful! You can come in as a blunt object and leave as surgical steel. At ACQ, you see not just how your client works, but how many clients work, and how things differ from industry to industry. The base of delivering the product you say you’re going to makes a world of difference in any field, and as you learn the sales process, you see this every day.
4. ACQ gives back. Every week we raise money and resources for different causes–ranging from food bank donations to competing in the Race Against Hate. ACQ sees there is a responsibility to give back to your community, and we do just that here in our Evanston community.
5. Working in downtown Evanston by the lake. When I worked downtown Chicago, in theory you are by the lake and close to lots of things to do–but it would take you forever to do it! Here, I can grab my lunch, walk to the lake, and actually have time to enjoy it.
6. Your time is respected here. You are allowed to take a lunch. Again, you may think this is a simple privilege, but that time allotted is often a gift. You can go work out at one of many gyms nearby (with discounted rates for ACQ employees by the way!), run to the lake, get your head right, and then get back to work.
7. Snacks and a break room you can actually use. Snacks available during the day, coffee in the AM. Yes please, and thank you!
8. My CEO knows my name and works like I do. Yeah, what you read is true. He sits a few desks away from me, and he’s on the phone talking to clients just like I do every day. Often people do not want to get their hands dirty, but this is never the case at ACQ. You are not a number.
9. You are held accountable. When you do a great job, you hear about it. When you don’t, you get coaching and are given an opportunity to improve. There is no “Churn and Burn” here–you get out what you put in. If you put in the work, you will have a chance to succeed. However, if you do not want to work, you can just pack your bags! No loafing is tolerated. You are treated like a partner here, and they expect you to act accordingly. I respect that.
10. You have the ability to grow. Our Social Media Coordinator has that role because she asked for it. I work with our training manager to help coach other teams, as well as help introduce new people to the company. If there is something you want to do to help ACQ get better, they encourage it.
Acquirent is a great place to be as you learn and grow in a sales role. You can not only become a better sales person, you can grow to be a better business person![/fusion_text][one_third last=”no” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ class=”” id=””][imageframe lightbox=”no” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”dropshadow” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/imageframe][/one_third][two_third last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ class=”” id=””][fusion_text]Lawrence Henderson uses his past experiences of opening and managing new locations within the hospitality industry to provide his clients at Acquirent with a customer service-focused sales process.
