Four Questions to ask During Your Job Interview

No matter how much you prepare, no matter how qualified you are for the position, a job interview can be a nerve-wracking experience. After all, there’s a potential career on the line! One way to make the interview process less stressful is to remember that not only is the company interviewing you, you’re interviewing the company. Here at Acquirent, the most impressive candidates we’ve interviewed were the ones that asked pointed and relevant questions about our company. Here are a few questions you may want to consider in your next interview.

What makes the ideal candidate?

This is a great question to ask because it gives you more insight into the position. If the hiring manager tells you exactly what they’re looking for, you’ll know which aspects of your resume to highlight. If any gaps appear between what they describe and what your resume shows, be sure to address that in the interview.

What do you enjoy about working here?

For how much time and energy you dedicate to your job, don’t you want to work somewhere you’ll enjoy? This question is a great way to learn more about the company culture and connect with your interviewer on a more personal level.

What do you expect me to accomplish in my first month? First three months?

This question shows the interviewer you’re already looking to get started and begin making an impact, and it also gives you a good idea of what you can expect at your new position. Plus, it gives you another opportunity to discuss any experiences that are relevant to what they describe.

If I performed this job well, where could I expect to be in two years? Five years?

Asking this question instantly tells the interviewer two important things: you’re ambitious, and you’re in it for the long haul. More importantly, it tells you about what path your career could take. If your interviewer has trouble answering this question, this position might not have the opportunities for growth you’re looking for.
